Preparing for this year's Wayzgoose was a harrowing experience. I'd been working like a mad thing to attempt to pull Swift out of my hat, but it just wasn't happening. At least the fringe benefit is that the text printing is half finished. What was possible, was done: mock-ups of the envelope for the Standard edition and the binding structure for the unusual double pamphlet–accordion presentation. A bookmark prospectus was also available. The envelope features a hand-made marble by Regina St John of Chena River Marblers.
Mr Darcy's Letter was also on show, the text of which is now finished, with the envelope assembly and numbering left to do. There are 150 copies, available for $35 CAD. I'll post some photos shortly.
Overall, it was a great show. Some commented on the poor turnout, some on the wonderful turnout. I was grateful to get a chance to tour some of the other tables this time around. I've got my eye on some of the gorgeous bookbinding equipment shown by Illtyd Perkins, including a variation on a standing book press made of Fir and Garry oak, complete with storage drawers and other fine touches. He was also letting people have a go at the press and plough.
